Description - Description: The project investigates the role of CaVβ subunits in pancreatic β cell function and survival, with emphasis on insulin secretion and Ca²⁺ homeostasis. It examines whether CaVβ subunits, beyond modulating L-type Ca²⁺ channels, i nfluence gene expression and apoptosis. Four objectives guide the study: determining subunit effects on Ca²⁺ influx and excitability; analyzing transcriptomic changes linked to β cell physiology; assessing their contribution to apoptosis; and exploring therapeutic potential by modulating CaVβ expression.
